3 signs that your body is telling you to slow down

We live in a fast paced world that demands us to always be productive, effective and active.

In general that's a good thing but we also need to realise we're humans, not computers. We're bound to:

🛑Make mistakes, 🦥Slack off, 😩Burn out

In order to avoid the unnecessary pressures of 'always doing', it's important to respond to your body. Here are 3 signs that you need to slow down:

#1 You have inconsistent sleep 😴

Sleep routines are the most ignored thing (especially at a young age). It can be seen as a sacrifice if it's in the short run, say a few days across months and the situation truly demands it.

Unfortunately, we're often wearing 4-5 hours of sleep as a show of strength. Well, it's not because you're just accelerating damage both physically and mentally. Respond to your body - slow down, sleep consistently, take the day off if you have to.

#2 Things seem to be happening all the time 🏃‍♂️

'Side-hustles' are growing. We're all looking to work on things we truly love outside our 9-5s. We seem to be imposing artificial timelines that maybe too unrealistic and we grow anxious if they don't happen. To make up for it, we take on more and there's no space for ourselves.

In fact, having less time for yourself is counter intuitive to actually displaying better quality of work.

#3 You feel like doing nothing 🦥

This isn't the same as 'laziness'. There are days you genuinely don't want to do anything and that's okay. If you've been doing #1 and #2, it's could be a sign of burn out.

Take some time out for self care. Engage intentionally in activities that can promote your physical, mental and emotional state.

  • Go for a run/ workout at the gym

  • Go for a walk in the park/ Meditate

  • Go for a massage/ or a swim
