Cut Yourself Some Slack

If you're taking on too much and being hard on yourself, this is a reminder to cut yourself some slack.

I feel that we're harsh on ourselves while we're empathetic to others. I often tell others "it's okay", when, in the same situation, I tell myself "I'm doing less than I'm capable of". A little hypocritical? Definitely.

Is it surprising? Not at all.

Does this mean you can be lazy, sip on endless amounts of cola and do nothing?

Probably not (still your call, nonetheless).

Here are some things that could help you be kind to yourself, yet not be limiting:

1. Give Yourself Permission To Loosen Up

You are not a robot.

You might slow down, make mistakes but also have great days. Life isn't predictable and you're not a 8 core processor.

Need a break? Take it. Enjoy it and give yourself permission to be in the moment. No calls, no mails. Just you doing the things you love.

β€œJust when you feel you have no time to relax, know that this is the moment you most need to make time to relax.”― Matt Haig

2. We're All Running Our Own Races At Different Paces

Social media is a highlight reel. With LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram (and WhatsApp even), you'd think everyone has their life sorted out.

Truth is, no one has it figured out. Even the ones we look up to make mistakes. There's a high chance your life appears perfect to the outside too πŸ˜„

β€œIf you look for perfection, you'll never be content.” ― Leo Tolstoy

3. Mistakes Are An Opportunity To Learn

Instead of fretting over mistakes, learning from them will help you in the long run. Lesser mistakes, better you and a reduction in the fear to try new things. It's the perfect trifecta 😁

β€œToo late, I found you can't wait to become perfect, you got to go out and fall down and get up with everybody else.” ― Ray Bradbury
